Rainbow Moonstone Bracelet — 11 mm

Moonstone's blue is not colour. It is scattering. The stone is feldspar that separated as it cooled into microscopically thin alternating layers, and those layers happen to sit close enough to the wavelength of blue light to throw it back at you. Turn a bead and the blue arrives, floats across it, and goes. The trade calls it adularescence.

At 11 mm each bead is large enough to carry the effect on its own rather than contributing to a general shimmer down the strand. The body is white and translucent with light internal cloud, which is what the blue needs something to float over.
