Red Hematoid Quartz Heart — 75 mm

Quartz that crystallised around iron. Where our hematoid bracelets carry that iron as clouds suspended inside round beads, this piece shows it as geology: deep red running in broad zones across the face, sharply bounded against milky white, with clear quartz breaking through at one edge. The iron oxides were sitting in the ground first; the quartz grew around and through them.

Cut as a heart and polished all over, which puts the whole cross-section on display at once — the reason the zoning reads so plainly here and not on a bead.
