Red Hematoid Quartz Bracelet

Clear quartz that grew around iron. The rust-red, brick and near-black masses inside each bead are iron-oxide minerals, hematite and its relatives, already in place when the quartz crystallised around them. In many beads the boundary is sharp: one side clear, the other red, as if the bead had been half dipped.

No two beads match, and the sizes read differently. At 6 mm the strand runs dense and dark, mostly deep red-brown with little clear quartz showing. At 8 and 9 mm there is room for both, and you get beads that are part window, part inclusion.
