Black Rutilated Quartz Bracelet — 7 mm

Quartz threaded with black and gold — goethite and hematite needles, with flecks of dark mica caught in among them. Against the clear quartz between, the inclusions read as fine dark filaments rather than bold streaks, and the gold only turns up when the light does.

Worth being clear about the name. This material is widely sold as “black gold super seven”, and it is not that. True Super Seven — Melody Stone — is a specific seven-mineral intergrowth from Espírito Santo in Brazil, and it is scarce and priced accordingly. What this is: included quartz, honestly interesting on its own terms, and priced as included quartz rather than as something rarer.

It is also the same family as our hematoid quartz — quartz that grew around iron oxides — just with the iron reading black and gold instead of rust.
