Lepidolite Bracelet — 14 mm

Lepidolite is a mica — the lithium-bearing member of the family — which means it is built from sheets stacked one on another, finely enough that light slides between them. That layering is where the sheen on these beads comes from: a soft, silky light that moves across each bead as you turn your wrist, with fine parallel banding where the sheets run edge-on.

Its colour comes from manganese, and it runs from lilac through to rose. This strand sits at the warm end: rose-mauve, with copper in the sheen, deeper in some beads than others. At 14 mm each bead is large enough to carry its own banding, so the strand reads as a ring of individual stones rather than a single colour.

One thing to know before you buy it: mica is soft. Lepidolite sits at roughly 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale — a steel key will scratch it. Wear it on its own rather than stacked against harder stones or metal, take it off for washing up, and store it separately.
