Strawberry Quartz Bracelet — 8 mm

The pink here is not in the quartz. Look at the close-up and the colour comes apart into fine red flecks suspended in clear stone — iron-oxide minerals caught up as the crystal grew. Where the flecks crowd together a bead reads raspberry; where they thin out it goes nearly clear.

That is also how to tell the material from its imitations. “Strawberry quartz” is a name the market also hangs on dyed quartz and on pink glass, where the colour is even and nothing is suspended in it. Separate flecks sitting at different depths are what the included stone looks like.
