Tiger's Eye Bracelet, Blue

Blue tiger's eye — also sold as hawk's eye — is the same stone as gold tiger's eye, left one step earlier. Both are quartz threaded with fine crocidolite fibre, every fibre lying in the same direction. In the gold stone the iron in those fibres has altered to honey and brown. Here it has not, so the fibre keeps its original colour: deep blue running to near-black.

The band of light that slides across each bead as your wrist turns is the same in both. It is called chatoyancy, and it comes from structure rather than colour — parallel fibre reflects light along a single line instead of scattering it. On blue material the band reads cooler and sharper, a flash of steel over dark water.

This strand is from the top of the three grades our supplier sorts into: the most saturated blue, and a band that runs cleanly across the bead rather than breaking into patches.

Three sizes. At 6 mm the effect is a blue sheen moving over a dark strand — fine enough to stack or to wear on a smaller wrist. At 8 mm the flashes start to separate bead by bead. At 10 mm each bead carries its own distinct stripe of light, and the strand becomes something you watch.

Photos show a representative strand. The stripe pattern is different on every bead, so yours will not match it exactly. One strand in each size — when a size sells, that size is gone.
